College Clothing Packing List: How to Pack + What to Pack
My freshman year in college I packed entirely too many items of clothing and way too many pairs of shoes. So, this year I am only going to bring what I NEED. So, for all freshman out there who do not know what to pack, here is a printable list of clothing items, as well as a few tips to help you get started.
1. Pack for the season.
When choosing which clothes to pack for college always pack for the season. Normally, there is not enough space left in an apartment/dorm to store those out-of-season clothes. Since this upcoming semester is the fall semester you will only need to bring fall clothing items. Also, since winter is still a few months away, I would suggest leaving winter clothing behind and retrieving them later, because winter coats can take up a lot of extra space.
2. Pack for all occasions, but do not over-do it.
Pack an outfit for every occasion. I would suggest having a pair of dress clothes for interviews and meetings, two dresses and one pair of heels for going out, two pairs of workout clothes, one swimsuit, and a rain coat and a pair of rain boots for rainy/stormy days.
3. Do not be too focused on outerwear.
Yes, that is right… I am talking about underwear. Do not be so focused on your outerwear that you forget about your underwear. This is one thing you will need to decide on your own, so bring what you think you will need. However, make sure to pack at least one pair of underwear and socks for each day of the week.
4. Do not forget accessories.
Make sure to remember accessories. That includes belts, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, hats, scarves, etc.
Quick Tip ▼
Remember this is all dependent on what YOU wear. Do not bring extra clothing items or accessories if you will not wear them. They will only take up extra space you could be using for something you would wear.
